Sawyer was born and raised in Boulder, CO until he moved to the Kitsap area for high school. He started volunteering at the shelter in January of 2023 and was made a part of the staff in the New Year of 2024. Alongside caring for sick wildlife patients, he also works with the education ambassadors and teaches the public about the importance and value of the natural ecosystem. While he’s not at the shelter negotiating with his favorite education bird, Tuklus, he enjoys getting out into nature. He’s been to over half of the national parks in the country and he enjoys seeing all types of wildlife.
